Invitation to try the future of Access Services

ImAc, an EU Funded project, has imagined how access services such as subtitles and sign language will work with immersive content (360 degree video and virtual reality). By testing different scenarios in pilots spanning three countries we have settled on the answer and are inviting people to give us their views.

The ImAc project has created an accessible player for immersive content which enables more people than ever to enjoy 360 degree videos with 3D sound. Users with sight loss can turn on audio description and spoken subtitles (for foreign language content) whilst users with hearing loss can make use of subtitles or sign language. This can all be accessed through a high contrast menu system on a VR headset, tablet, smartphone or via a PC or laptop.

The open pilot is running in German, English and Catalan. To find out more about the German pilot go to https://www.rbb-online.de/imac-nutzertest , for the English pilot go to https://www.rbb-online.de/imac-user-test  and to find out more about the Catalan pilot go to http://www.ccma.cat/experiencia-immersiva-accessible. You’ll be asked to confirm that you’re happy for the player to collect information about how you use it and we hope you will also fill out a short questionnaire about the experience.

ImAc is a European project involving partners from the UK, France, Germany and Spain and has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 761974. The ImAc partners are I2CAT, UAB, CCMA Anglatècnic, RBB, Motion Spell, IRT, University of Salford and RNIB.
