On Thursday 10th October the Greek EMP Alexis Georgoulis organized the event “Perspectives on the Cultural Accessibility of Persons with Disabilities” at the European Parliament. People with disabilities are systematically excluded from the scope of important pieces of legislation, such as the Audio-visual Directive where only the progressive realization of accessibility requirements is provided. This sector was recently discussed in the framework of the Accessibility Act. The integrity of creative freedom has been a strong argument for exponents of accessibility to be integrated in art and culture. This initiative would highlight existing practices and digital tools that could boost cultural accessibility for people with disabilities and learning difficulties. Dr Pilar Orero from UAB presented the solutions towards the consumption of cultural goods in 360º video, that ImAc developed.
